Conservatory FlooringWhen choosing a conservatory you may be able to choose from a variety of different conservatory floors. These are lots of different materials a conservatory floor can be made with so you will need to carefully think about what use your floor will have in the conservatory beforehand. If your conservatory is going to be a part of the kitchen or “utility” room beyond the kitchen, you should consider choosing a floor that will be spill resistant so it is not going to soak up any spills and it will be easy to clean. If the conservatory is going to act as a children’s play area it will need to be hard wearing, skid resistant and easy to clean. If it supposed to be an area for the adults to relax in, you may want something more warming, elegant and modern such as laminate flooring. The location of your conservatory could also be a factor in the floor materials that you choose. For example, a south facing conservatory will heat up very easily in the summer so a ceramic or natural stone flooring would not only be quite stylish but will also help to cool down the conservatory in the hot summer months. Much like if your conservatory is going to be a children’s play area, the amount of traffic the conservatory will get will also affect the type of flooring to use. If it will get a lot of use as people move in and out it will need to be hardwearing, durable, and easy to clean. The main types of flooring commonly used in conservatories are cork floors, laminate floors, natural stone floors, tiled floors or wooden floors. Naturally laminate flooring would look much better with a PVCu conservatory than it would with a Hardwood conservatory. Also, a traditional wooden floor would be much more elegant and stylish in a Hardwood conservatory than in a PVCu or Aluminium conservatory. Laminate flooring is a popular choice in modern homes especially if you are working to a budget and are opting for a PVCu conservatory. With a high quality laminate flooring you can obtain a look that is hard to distinguish for a real wooden floor. Laminate flooring is also significantly easier to install than real wood flooring which is a plus if you are looking to purchase a DIY conservatory. You can also obtain a couple of different types of real wood flooring for your conservatory that you may prefer if your budget allows. Hardwood flooring has not always been a recommended material for your conservatory floor due to the possibility of shrinking, warping and splitting. However, you can now obtain engineered hardwood conservatory flooring which can withstand the moisture levels and minimizes movement of the wood. This means you can the long lasting durability of a laminate floor but using real wooden flooring. Parquet conservatory floors use small thick pieces of wood that are traditionally less prone to the problems of warping and movement than planks of wood. You should avoid the thinner modern version of traditional parquet flooring which is more vulnerable to moisture problems and may become damaged over time especially if used in a conservatory. |
